L.A. came out in droves to support the premiere of TiRon’s new video “Throwing My Money” directed by Carey Williams and Aurelio Mitjans. With performances from TiRon, Pacific Division, El Prez and DJ Sean G on the tables, fans were treated to the best of the west coast. In the building were Diz Gibran, Blu, Oddisee, Trek Lyfe, Tunji, cARTer, among others to keep the party going and hip-hop spirits high. It was defintely a proud moment for the new face of West Coast hip-hop.

A second album titled Everything Changed Nothing produced by Oddisee & pushing the remix of my first album titled New Money also produced by Oddisee. GO COP THAT!!

But I’d rather be…

On stage at the Laker 2009 championship parade and celebration after hitting a game winning shot of some sort. BALLIN!!!

My most prized possessions are…

My Laptop, my microphone (cordless & studio), my car stereo that takes USB (I LOVE THAT THING MORE THAN THE CAR!) and my M-Audio box. (OH and my PSP for traveling and kicking a$$ @ FIFA.)

But I’d give it all away for…

My family, my girl, my daughter Sarai and peace of mind. <—-That last part rhymed.

The first thing I do in the morning is…

Wonder why the hell the alarm clock is screaming so early! What the hell is that thing’s problem?!

The last thing I do at night is…

Watch Sportscenter, check on my lil girl, say a prayer (maybe smoke one) and hit the sack.

My momma always said…

I love it when people…

Are genuinely good to others without worrying about purpose or gain; that’s a rare trait in people these days.

I hate it when people…

Manipulate and take advantage of others just to get a step ahead. That’s the true definition of a punk. God is watching though, you’ll get yours.

If you ever see me walking down the street…

Say what up, talk about basketball, but don’t ask me to freestyle in the middle of the day while I’m with my family. Please! I’m just sayin’

My most notable run-in with the law…

*Sigh* Sadly I’ve had a few too many embarrassing run-ins, after having “a few too many” to begin with. Cops ain’t smart though. I get away “most times.”

If I had to say sorry it would be because…

I meant it sincerely. Why apologize for something you didn’t do wrong? If I said it, I meant. If you don’t accept it, that’s on you.

I get real aggro when…

People speak on or try to do harm to fam. There are no passes given for that at all. If you feel that you have one, it’s likely because we ain’t caught up with each other yet.

The last time I swore I’d never drink was after a night of…

I’m getting there now actually; I’m typing this on the morning of my born day. I drink professionally though, so I won’t even lie to myself about never drinking again.

Future projects and plans…

I’ve got the new album Everything Changed Nothing prod. by Oddisee in stores Aug/Sep, an EP with a DOPE producer, J.Bizness, on the way this summer, another EP with Babu coming soon and an album with my crew The Authentix produced by Vinyl Frontiers from Holland coming at the end of the year.

And before I leave I’d like to give a shout out too…

Out the gate, J Live hits you with the same lyrical prowess that attracted you to him back in the ’90s on his debut The Best Part. On the opening track, “One to 31,” J Live is “bold to go where emcees are scared to.” In just 3 minutes and 24 seconds, J Live castigates his absent father, blasts the blinded masses and disgraces the manipulative music industry. Although Then What Happened? is light on guest appearances with verses from Oddisee, Posdanous, and Chali 2na, it’s heavy on production featuring beats by Nicolay, DJ Spinna, Jazzy Jeff and Oddisee among others. It’s apparent that J Live is no new booty on tracks like “Understanding” and the lyrically calculating “We Are” (produced by DJ Spinna). He even provides scratches and mixing on a couple of the tracks. With all of J Live’s career ups and downs, he definitely takes a win with Then What Happened? With only 11 tracks, this album isn’t clogged with album fillers or unnecessary interludes that you wish never existed. Even though the album can get a bit preachy at times, you can’t help but to be fulfilled by J Live’s hip-hop gospel.
