This is a nice summation of the origins of the newest collaboration between Travis Barker and A-Trak. While the idea of live drums over a DJ set is no new idea, it seems like the goal here is to bring this to a newer generation of dance consumers, using two of the most recognized and respected practitioners of their respective fields. This clip takes you from rehearsal to their back-to-back sold out shows at the Roxy featuring guest performances by Lil’ Jon, Kid Cudi, and Kid Sister.

What’s happening?
Nothing much, just trying to power through everything right now. There’s so many contests going on and I’m working on my video part for Globe as well.

Yeah I know your schedule has been hectic! You’ve got the stuff with Lil Jon, and the BME Click, and the new stuff going on with Oakley, too. Plus I know you rolled wih Teddy Pinderassdown (T-Pain) the other day at the Oakley party.
That all came about because of my relationship with Oakley. I’ve been on the team for a while now and so has Lil Jon and some of the best snowboarders and moto dudes. Jon just really wanted to do something different with everyone and brought us onto his gig. He actually skates and snowboards, not at the pro level of course but he’s down, and just into skating and things. It was his opportunity to support skating to try to put us on an even bigger platform than just skating would alone. Sometimes we don’t really think about it, but there are a lot of people who are supportive of skating even if they don’t do it themselves or not that often. This helps bridge that gap and lets new people check out skating.

Well to give Lil Jon some more validity in the skate world, I heard that Lil Jon used to roll with Andy Howell and Johnny Schillereff from Element. I guess they used to be in a hip hop group together. That blew my mind.
Yeah, he’s just down and wanted to do something cool with everybody. We even shot new footage for the website and everything, too.

I know you just launched your site too, correct? It’s Greg Lutzka.tv?
Yeah, it’s up now and we are getting up new content all the time, I’ve just been hitting everything this year and it’s been a whirlwind.

I know you, have been working hard. The weekend when we were shooting you went and won Globe’s Slaughter at the Opera, then turned around and won the Tampa Pro as well. There are only a handful of skaters who can kill it on street for real and then go kill it in a contest.
Thanks, brother, for me skating is just skating. I’m down to do it whenever, wherever, with whomever. I love skating that much and in a public forum it just lets more people see it.

Hello, my name is…
Candice Clarke aka Cando

I was raised in…
The ghettos of Irvine, CA, but not before I jumped between the Philippines and Japan. OK, you’re right, there are no ghettos in Irvine, but it was the not-as-expensive part of town.

The reason that you’re reading about me is…
Because I’m the Heidi Fleiss of DJ managers. Just call me your neighborhood DJ madame.

Right now I’m working on…
Booking DJ Tina T and DJ Hapa on their world tours, a reality show for the Cocaine Kids, locking in an endorsement deal with Lil Jon and Numark, while at the same time trying to find my way back to LAX but not before I stop in NY, NJ, PA, IL, NV and SC along the way.

The first thing I do in the morning is…
Respond to the important messages on my Blackberry from bed.

The last thing I do at night is…
See what’s on Cinemax…why not?

My momma always said…
You’ll never know unless you ask, and the worse thing anyone could say is no…and if they say no, kick them in the balls.

I love it when people…
Send me checks.

I hate it when people…
Answer their phone in meetings.

If you ever see me walking down the street…
Tell me how we can make money together.

My most notable run-in with the law…
Was when I “witnessed” an attempted homicide. The truth is, after hearing the gunshots from the roof of the building next to the scene of the crime, I ducked down and encouraged everyone else to do the same, out of fear that the gunman would turn and shoot upward at us. In the end, I saw nothing but a guy fleeing like he just shot some dude. I am now on standby for the next ten years as a key witness—but I didn’t even see anything! Luckily, the guy lived.

If I had to say sorry it would be because …
My DJs are better than yours.

Yo, you see this scar, I got this when I…
Took a nose dive when was skateboarding down a hill in the Philippines back when I worshiped Tony Hawk in the ’80s.

The last time I swore I’d never drink was after …
I freaked Stevie Wonder on stage while he was singing “Happy Birthday” to me. I still don’t understand why everyone waited till his last song to stop me from making an ass out of myself.

Future projects and plans…
To become Executive Platinum on American Airlines.

And before I leave I’d like to give a shout out to…
The parking enforcement of greater Los Angeles. (Hopefully ’cause I’m giving them the shout, they’ll conveniently run out of tickets when they come across my black ’96 Honda Accord. I know you know who I am—’cause you keep leaving tickets on my car!)
