Sonically, much of the music focuses on ambient, ethereal loops and sparse vocals to create a landscape that allows the listener to create their own world with the song. The video for “Ten Thousand Years” has a very playful feel reminiscent of a Michel Gondry piece, where there is less emphasis on unnecessary special effects and more focus on placing the viewer in a sort of surreal universe of its own. Fans of the Postal Service and Grandaddy, should really dig his newest album, “Topics For Gossip“.
Something about Brazilian music really makes my nipples hard. It has a natural seduction that I my ears find irresistible. From the sultry vocals to the soothing melodies, something about it makes me want to strip down naked and play in the sun. Language barrier aside, Futurismo by Kassin+2 is a perfect mix of Samba, Tropacalia, Bossa Nova and Electronica that is pure ear candy for natives and newbies to their sound. Futurismo is the final part of the +2 trilogy which includes Kassin along with band members Moreno Veloso and Domenico Lancellotti. Tracks like “Tranqüilo” and the title track “Futurismo” are natural stress relievers that fine tune and flatten out any kind of stress that may affect you at the moment. “Mensagem” has a contemporary feel to it that bridges the gap between old Brazilian funk and the new sounds of Rio. “Samba Machine” with its kinetic keyboard and heart pumping drums take you is another amalgamation of old and new Brazil. Kassin+2 picks up where Jorge Ben, Tom Zé, and Tom Jobim left off, integrating the scorching soul and the mellow rhythm that Brazilian artists are infamous for.
