I went out to Emeryville the other day to check out the new Nike store on Bay Street. As soon as I walk in the door, I see the classic Air Jordan commercial with Mars Blackmon playing on this big-ass screen. I know you remember that commercial, “Is it the shoes?” Well we all know the answer to that, and Nike does, too. Inside, you’ll find an information center that can help you find any Nike product, no matter the location.

The highlight is the plush NIKEiD studio, where you can customize your choice of shoes and some clothes to go with them. You have more than 150 styles to choose from, like the Dunk or Air Max, and you get a chance to see and feel the actual materials you can use on your special editions.

I did a pair of custom Air Max 90s that came out sick, and I would’ve posted a picture but I don’t want nobody to jack my swag.

You can also hit up the Tee-Bar and create your own shirt in a variety of colors and graphics, with customized lettering and numbering to choose from. You can pretty much do anything you want except disrespect the almighty Swoosh™.

Now here’s the catch: you can get your shirt that same day, but you have to wait 4-6 weeks for the shoes. So I suggest you throw that shirt on ice and chill till your shoes are delivered, so you can be killing them like the first day of school.

With the price of gas still hanging up in the $3.50+ range (not for long with the financial meltdown), fuel efficiency is the name of the game. Looking around Dallas, we have started to see a lot more scooters and tiny cars that look perilously small against the F-350 Superhuge Trucks, but whiz around the streets nonetheless. Our personal favorite mode of transportation is the bike, then the Ruckus, then it might have to be the smart car. These things have been in Europe for a long while, but we’re sure you have seen them by now. Anway, take a look at some photoshopped, err, prototype Smart Car conversions.

This will be the last KICKROCKERS event of the year 2008… We will return in 2009 Bigger and Better with lots more sneaker giveaways. This party is for those who love sneakers of all styles and brands. Mr.HoodBrush (KICKROCKERS Resident Artist) will be on-site customizing 2 pair or custom kicks (Male/Female size) to be given away that nite. Since this is our last party of 2008,  you are welcome to bring your own sneakers, hats, and shirts as long as the item is new or freshly cleaned. We will be charging 10 to 15 dollars per item, depending on what you want airbrushed. There will be photo-ops with dope backdrops. We will also be signing people up for memberships that nite as well. Please come rocking your flyest sneakers before you get caught on camera. The winner of the custom sneakers will be featured in KICK ROCKERS monthly newsletter and  given a free membership. We will have gift bags for all who show up and pay the $7 dollar Kick-It-Ticket.

Mishka has a new section on their website that allows you to design your own Mishka shirts, ranging from the colors of the shirt and graphic, right down to the label baring the name of the designer.

The first graphic you can mess with is the Death Adders Incorporated T-shirt. (You might remember DART–Death Adders Racing Team–from the current issue of Vapors. Or you might not.)

From here on out, one new style will be launched every month.

I would just drain the account, get all 140 color combos and rock the same tee in different colors for the next ten or twelve years.
