I have a bad habit of grouping all the “action sports” sunglass companies together, but some respectable companies like Smith definitely take it to another level. (With a hand from Apple/Nike design icon Thomas Meyerhoffer, Smith did basically invent the wraparound snowboard goggle and goggle/helmet integration, after all.)

Their latest limited Exclusivo collection is a throwback to the 80s, but with some definite dope designer touches. The two styles are the Yes Yes Y’All and The Jett. As good Greg over at Smith says, “[The Jett] is a twist on the cateye Wayfarer that is becoming a growing malaise, so we spruced it up a bit with a unique shape and some cool details and fired it out there.” The gray ones below look better than any Wayfarer, and “a growing malaise” is one of the funniest things I’ve read in a while. Nice wording, Greg.

This reads like an advertorial blog entry, but believe me it’s not. I just happened to have read a story about Meyerhoffer and Smith last week, which upped my respect level.
