Javier Laval is the founder and lead designer behind the futuristic shoe brand known as Android Homme. Since its inception, the brand has created diverse, forward thinking sneaker designs with this year’s holiday collection being some of their best stuff to date. I had the chance to get a better idea of what makes the brand tick and what to expect from them straight from the source. Short and sweet, check it out below as well as some of the newest designs.

PS – Take a look at their full arsenal at the Android Homme website!

Q: Briefly describe what drew you to footwear and how the company began?

Being an avid sneaker collector, I was always intrigued by the footwear making/design process. This interest was part of my decision to shift my career, or reprogram, from marketing to design, and alas Android Homme was born.

Q: How would you characterize the brand? Casual? Streetwear? etc.

All styles speak to the design philosophy that creatively merges street sensibility with luxury aesthetics.

Q: Is there a prevalent theme throughout all of the designs in the brand?

Android Homme products are designed to metaphorically reflect that all humans are inherently programmed beings, similar to robots and computers. We encourage individuals to go beyond self imposed limitations and achieve the best possible results. This philosophy is reflected though the design of the sneakers but is applicable to ones life as a whole.

Q: What do you find aesthetically pleasing in men’s footwear?

I am always interested in innovative silhouettes, and quality materials are a must

Q: What can we expect next from Android Homme?

In the short term, we are looking forward releasing a few new styles for Spring 2010, and long term, an Android Homme flagship store is in the works.
