The first sentence in Kenny “Kenji” Gallo’s book Breakshot reads like this, “Kenny “Kenji” Gallo is and FBI-protected informant against Colombo Mafia Family and the Lucchese Mafia Family who currently lives under an assumed identity somewhere in the United States.”
Imagine my concern after I read that but had already agreed to meet Kenny with my photo editor, Paul at The Village Idiot on Melrose to discuss his incredible life as one of Orange County’s top drug traffickers–but it doesn’t stop there.
When we first met Kenny Gallo, he was not what I expected, even though I didn’t know what to expect. He definitely didn’t fit the typical “Mafia Guy” model we have grown accustomed to seeing in film and television.
Casually dressed in jeans, sneakers and t-shirt but with eyes that have witnessed the true ugliness of life as a professional criminal and porn director and producer. Yeah, you read that right. Now the man that unknowingly stole 5 Kilos of cocaine from one Pablo Escobar lives the life of a normal Joe, expect he does Mix Martial Art competitions just for the hell of it. Actually on the night at the restaurant, Kenny didn’t eat because he had to make weight for an upcoming fight.
Kenny was a natural at being a criminal and it seemed liked he was always in the right spot to meet the right people to help him keep progressing in his trade. The life he led reads like a criminal fairytale, it’s so unbelievable that even Martin Scorsese couldn’t have dreamed it up.
