Located on the western edge of Los Angeles’ very own Koreatown, The Wiltern hosted a very rare, last minute hip hop-rock reggae show. With a room packed full of elbow scouring fanatics, the southeast corner of Wilshire Boulevard rumbled and sent mesmerizing shock through all the venue’s bodies on June 16th. Not a single fan had an expression of disappointment. The room was filled from front to back and side to side. The energy level fluctuated between opening acts, but as soon as Matisyahu entered the stage, the Richter scale of excitement changed, as if the fans were replaced by better ones. Now, two years in the works, Matisyahu is set to release his long-awaited third record, Light. His rigorous tour schedule and work-a-holic mentality has prolonged the release date, but you can be assured August 25th is the day. Next time Matisyahu performs live, a suggestion would be to attend for you will not receive regret.
