Sixteen instrumental masterpieces of K-Def’s collection are now available on the aptly titled “Beats from the ’90s.” This isn’t a compendium of old material we’ve all heard before though, but rather a fresh album of unreleased and new tracks that radiate with that classic vibe. Funky and cool, laidback and head-nodding, retro and downright cool. Tracks to really get your groove on are abundant, but the ’70s wah-wah of “Dramaz” and the retooled rendition of Newcleus’s ’80s joint “Jam on It” are unmatched.
