So what’s the goal for this band? Are you guys like an indie rock band? Are you ready to play stadiums?

I dunno. I just want as many people who want to, to listen to us, to hear us play. I just think that there are a lot of people that go to work everyday and just don’t have a band to connect with. I hope that people click with these songs. I don’t care who listens to the band, as long as they can get with it, you know?

There is a problem in general with the whole indie rock scene and, this “Pitchfork Nation” of elitist fucks who deem what is appropriate for cool kids to listen to. It reminds me of 1997 when hip-hop got terrible. What’s your take on that?

Well, I’ll tell you now who I’m not concerned with, which is them. I already told the band that if Pitchfork gives us a one out of ten, we’re probably in good shape. I mean, I get it. I’ve worn purple jeans and white Ray-Bans. I just feel like I’m writing songs that I hope I still want to hear when I’m 35. That’s the goal of the band. Hopefully we still like these songs in a few years. If Tim from Hollywood is obsessed with a new band that is part Apache/part disco, then more power to him. But I’d rather make songs that have substance over style.
