Back at it again after a slew of solo albums, Murs, LuckyIAm, the Grouch, Aesop, Bicasso, Sunspot Jonz, Scarub and Eligh, aka the Living Legends, hit the ground running with more lyrics to go.  There’s something about the West Coast, I tell you.  While everyone else is on this individual bullshit (i.e. New York), the West it seems, excuse my bias, is the only “Coast” showing that, with unity (no Khaled) comes good music.  The Living Legends crew out of California, both Southern and Northern, stands as one of the remaining crews who do so.  The Gathering serves as an eight-man tag-team of Justice, Lyrical Homicide, and back hand slaps to groupies.   Every member of the legendary crew spits on the EP, each holding their weight up, and like many groups from the golden days, all the music was produced in-house by members the Grouch, Eligh and Bicasso.  Besides the rare “what the fuck” moments lyrically by some of the members, the EP stays true to classic Legend material: ill beats and ill rhymes.   The title track, “The Gathering,” where the crew re-introduces the world to their lyricism, sets the tone for the album.   The EP is a solid effort all around by the crew and a definite library builder for underground heads.
