In recent years, some pro skaters have climbed their way to some of the top steps on the social ladder of cool. But what about their female counterparts? They used to be known as pro-hos—the handful of neighborhood girls you’d see at a demo or skatepark or party drinking Budweisers, hoping that the dude with the mean frontside flip would, like, totally pick up on them. But now they’re evolving into more than just some chick who wears skate shoes and doesn’t skate. Who are these chicks? And what is their significance in skateboarding today?
