Iggor Cavalera is known around the world as the drummer for the Brazilian metal band Sepultura. But after playing with the band for 25 years, circling the globe many times over, and selling over 10 million albums, Iggor left Sepultura in 2006. He’s recently moved behind the turntables, taking his extensive knowledge of beats and rhythms and bringing them to the dance floor. As Mixhell, Iggor and his wife, Laima Leyton, fuse a dark combination of electronic, hip-hop, and rock music with a wide variety of other influences to create a sound that is totally original. Would you expect any less from one of the best drummers of all time?

How did you guys meet, and what brought you two together to do Mixhell?
Iggor: We met in a club called the Edge in Sao Paulo; it’s one of the biggest dance clubs in Brazil. It was a night by the guy from a hardcore band from Brazil called Ratos De Parao.
